The Association of Independent Consumer Credit Counseling Agencies (AICCCA) was incorporated as a New Jersey Non Profit corporation on April 14, 1993 and held its first conference in May 1993. The conference successfully brought together representatives of consumer credit counseling organizations from throughout the country. Then, as now, the overriding theme was a common interest in tackling the problems that our industry was facing. We all saw the need for an open forum to share ideas and express opinions. It quickly became clear that a set of industry standards was needed to insure integrity in the delivery of our services, and we developed objective criteria that our members had to live by. We realized that automation was another key that our industry neglected, and we vowed to help our members keep on the cutting edge of technology. We recognized that most of the credit counselors in this country had no representation and were determined to fill that need.

Today, the members of AICCCA continue to serve the public with distinction and integrity. Our Association and its members have worked hard to bring important issues to the surface through education. Our open conferences, twice a year, continue to grow in popularity and relevance. Our structure, made up almost entirely of volunteer members, enables us to remain fresh and focused. We are the quiet voice of the industry that is being heard by an ever increasing audience.
